Fish Lake Beach is tucked into Volo, Illinois, in the heart of Lake County, about 45 minutes north of Chicago. We sit right off US Route 12, with easy access from I-94, so the drive in is straightforward from most of the Chicagoland area and southern Wisconsin.

Once you’re parked and set up, there’s a lot to do right here on the property. The lake is the center of it all — guests spend their mornings out on the water in kayaks, canoes, or pedal boats, and their afternoons on the sand or cooling off in the heated pool. The kids tend to gravitate toward the gaga pit, the playgrounds, and the basketball courts, and evenings usually end up around a fire pit or over at the Pavilion for karaoke or live music.

If you want to get out and explore, the surrounding area has plenty to keep you busy. Volo Bog State Natural Area and Moraine Hills State Park are both nearby for hiking and wildlife. The Fox Lake area has good dining and local shopping, and Chicago is close enough for a quick day trip.
