Donation Items Needed: Labor Day Auction

We're getting excited about Labor Day Weekend at Fish Lake Beach Camping Resort. The weekend will be filled with fun including a Family dance, Karaoke, All You Can Eat Pancake breakfast, Announcement of August Super Sites and Auction. We NEED your help! Our 40 year tradition of conducting a Labor Day fundraiser auction is at risk of being cancelled. We do not have many auction items and are in desperate need of gently used or NEW items ASAP. Gift Cards and Gift Certificates are welcome auction items. Last year campers voted on the annual Labor Day auction recipient and MS Society won! We're taking last years runner up, Autism Speaks for our 2015 Labor Day auctionrecipient. Please support this wonderful cause that affects so many. Autism Speaks was founded in February 2005 by Bob and Suzanne Wright, grandparents of a child with autism. Their longtime friend Bernie Marcus donated $25 million to help financially launch the organization. Since then, Autism Speaks has grown into the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. Please donate auction items today. You may bring them to the lunchroom from 8am-5pm until 11am on September 6th. Thank...

Fishing Update

Sub-zero temperatures and wave upon wave of snowstorms tested even the most stalwart cold-weather fans as we slogged through the 2013-2014 winter. Chicago received just a little over 80 inches of snow, which made it the third snowiest winter since record-keeping began the winter of 1884-85.  As the spring thaw occurred, our lake revealed changes that only a record-setting winter can leave behind.  These extreme weather conditions restricted the amount of sunlight that shines into the water to enable the growth of vegetation to oxygenate the water. The lack of oxygen causes fish to suffocate. This phenomenon has been noted throughout the region as many ponds and lakes are reporting a partial fish die-off.   For this reason, we are permitting fishing of our lake on a ‘catch and release’ basis only. This will allow the lake to naturally repopulate over time.  As expected, the carp were only minimally affected, so we’re encouraging those that catch carp to bring them in for proper disposal.  Thank you.  ...
